I had a bumper sticker on my old Wrangler that told folks, “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.” It made me feel so smug. Unlike the masses, yours truly was paying attention and feeling pretty lonesome in my outrage about the outrageous expense and unfairness of healthcare in the United States.
I teared up while reading this post. Thank you for shining a light on what many of us already knew. Insurance companies are in the business of hoping people will go away and die so they don't have to pay out. Living with MS I know this all too well. And it's clear even the "good" politicians don't care to do anything about it, because most of them get money from the industry one way or another.
I've decided that dying is the only way to protect my family. I have no health insurance and suffer from chronic debilitating pain. Looking again at "health insurance" reveals a shocking level of dishonest and scam operations being foisted on every American. I'm 62 and in reasonable good health other then spinal stenosis and collapsed disks. I cannot afford any insurance, and if I signup they will levy a lien after my death on my property for any "services" provided under the plans I've looked at. No - that's not going to happen. Protecting my family's home and their future is more important. Staying away from these blood-sucking vampires will be difficult and extremely painful for me but I have no other choice.
Interested in health care? This is what you should be reading.
Superb summary of a horrendous situation. Thanks Wendell!
