The Oct 18, 2021 Business Week issue had a rather shocking expose on how private insurance Advantage Plans are gaming Medicare and rapidly taking it over (45% now) and getting up to $10K per patient more than regular Medicare. Insurance is a racket on many levels and it needs to be exposed and vilified to the public with something shocking like what appears to be a major scam with deductibles. I see some indication that insurance companies may settle bills for less than the deductible after their clients pay their $5-8000 deductibles--basically scamming clients. If that could be documented and publicized, the public would be outraged possibly enough to pressure Congress to turn on the insurers.
Biden and the Democrats, like their bi partisan Republican comrades continue to pursue policies that keep the profit based insurance based plans in control of the system when they provide nothing of value to the health care delivery system. It's this for profit system that needs upended. Those in Congress that promised us a real fight to win national single payer have abandoned the struggle in the midst of a pandemic with millions without coverage or underinsured. Jayapal rates him an "A" and AOC says he's "exceeded expectations....."
